Henry IV part 2 Summary Act 5
The Chief justice fears Prince Hal will remove him from his position but Prince Hal instead admits he was right and tells him not to worry and that he is to continue as chief justice. Prince Hal vows before the court to become a good king.
Falstaff and shall own are merry making at the tavern when Pistol a friend arrives to say that The King is dead and Hal has been crowned King Henry the V. An excited Falstaff leaves immediately for the court.
The coronation ceremony of Prince Hal is held in Westminster Abbey where an excited Falstaff tries to gain his attention. However Henry the V now renounces Falstaff in what is finally revealed as the true theme of the young king’s maturation.
“Reply not to me with a fool-born jest: Presume not that I am the thing I was;
For God doth know, so shall the world perceive, That I have turn’d away my former self ;”( act5,5 46-47)
He tells Falstaff he will meet him in private to loan him some money which he owes to justice shallow. When the King moves away, the chief justice has Falstaff and his friends arrested. King Henry V now discusses the upcoming war with France.
