The dialogue “This is the very ecstasy of love.” occurs in Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet, Act II, Scene I. To understand the quote, we have to understand the dramatic irony behind it. Hamlet, in order to avenge the death of his father, decided to act like Mad man. Readers and audience knows the plan of Hamlet, but the characters in the play have no idea about it. Ophelia tells Polonius, about the strange behavior of Hamlet. On this occasion, Polonius says that, “Hamlet is madly in love with her”. You may use this quote, to refer strange behaviour, which results out of love.
